Yemeni kills U.S., Canadian oil workers

SANAA, Yemen, March 18 (UPI) -- A Yemeni shot and killed two oil workers from the United States and Canada and then killed himself in an oil field east of Sanaa, according to a Yemeni oil source.

The shooting took place at the oil field of Safer, the source told United Press International. The killer, who used a handgun, was identified as Naji al-Hadaa, also a worker in the Safer field run by the Hunt Oil company.

Another American was seriously wounded in the shooting. No further details were given about the slain workers.

An investigation was underway into how al-Hadaa was able to take the weapon into the oil field despite tight security measures.

The Safer oil field is located in the Marib area and employs a great number of U.S. and other foreign workers.
